Idaho Star Garnets
Star garnet is the Idaho state stone. It is found only in northern Idaho and an undisclosed location in India.
Emerald Creek garnet area (near Clarkia ID) is a pay dig area
run by the Forest Service. The Idaho stone is very gem quality. The four and six ray phenomenon is so rare in garnets that it is
largely unknown in the gemstone community. In Almandine Garnet
the "Asterism" is caused by the inclusion of tiny Rutile crystals ( Titanium Dioxide) called silk.
